Happy New Year

With something dear

with trouble clear

in the mirror

for what’s deeper

being a believer

instead being forthright

gaining shared foresight

facing the twilight

to be true

for work overdue

we didn’t rue

to lighten brevity (as in make complexities easier to say)

for needed levity

and improve charity

because if life is dim

what has it all been

when one finds only sin

oh the plight

oh the sight

of the light

truth too much

being a crutch

that we hush

something so unsightly

was it unjustly

put away gladly

respecting the lost

knowing the c(aw)st

upholding our laws (stopping future loss)

something for everybody

not knowing fully

trust was key

was it an unknown song

that makes time run long

pursuing anything despite what’s wrong

not on differences

but on accomplishments

that embrace sentiments

that enhance greatly

our inherent capacity

for moral longevity (to exist without lasting ills)

embracing our fallacy

that breeds lethargy

arming vast duplicity

not being fussy

just being truly

a faithful buddy

for someone dear

when approaching near
